The primary training element of this conference will be the Sharing Hope in Crisis Seminar run by Stewart Beveridge, the Australia/NZ Rapid Response Team Manager for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. The Sharing Hope in Crisis seminar (SHIC) will help participants to know what to say and what not to say to people who are grieving and enable them to compassionately and appropriately share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. This seminar, which will run for the vast majority of the conference, is suitable for everyone in the local church and is also ideal for counsellors, church leaders and those who encounter suffering people on a regular basis.
We see this training of direct importance in dealing with the significant events that have occurred within Townsville and North Queensland over the past few years.
Following on from the Sharing Hope in Crisis training we will be running a few supplementary electives to help equip the Pastors and local churches whilst they meet in Townsville.
These electives include:
Visit the Electives tab for further information.
We will be learning from Warren, who has been involved in mobilising and mentoring Young Adults as they take steps into ministry and mission. Some topics he will be exploring are:
Planting in the North: The people, the places, the challenges and the opportunities.
This session will look at how we can effectively connect, reach and engage young people with the powerful message of the gospel.
Gain inspiration from Ken’s insights as a leader into the approaches to to building a community mindset towards transforming our communities.
On the Saturday evening of the conference we are looking to host a dinner for those attending. We will have the privilege of hearing from Ken Mulligan, OAM, OBE, the managing director of YWAM Medical and Training Ships. With Ken’s lead, YWAM was instrumental in the physical help and personal care of locals after the 2019 Townsville floods, and the provision of local assistance during the initial stages of COVID. It will be an extremely valuable time to hear Ken’s leadership insights in the approach to leading a team in the time of a natural disaster/community crises.
